Grade Five Sunrise School - On Tour

The class of Grade Five, Sunrise School Bali took their show "Is it really rubbish?" on tour to North Bali.
The trip was combined with an end of term excursion to the eco-resort Menjangan and a visit to Atlas South Sea Pearl Farms.

Window on The World, Lovina

What a great place to have lessons!

The North of Bali is quite different from the south as it lies behind the mountain ranges. It is much drier, it looks a little like the North of Australia. Even though it is not far away and the road is good it is a delighfully under exploilted part of Bali with much in the way of wildlife both on land and in the sea. Grade Five travelled to Lovina to perform at The Window on the World School.
Here there were two performances, one to the delightful students of the kindergarten at their hillside location and the other at the classroom on the beach!

Between performances there was a beach clean up activity that everyone joined. What a great opportunity to see how close to the elements of nature you can live. It is important to value what we have as so many of our precious resources are being destroyed by pollution.

Matahari Kindergartgen

The Matahari Beach Resort and Spa in Pemuteran has created a lovely kindergarten for the children of the local villages and the children of their staff. It is a bright and sunny school, with open light classrooms and an area for playing and shows.
We were welcomed warmly and after our show the children of the Matahari Kindergarten gave us a show of their own.

The children here are suppported to keep their enviroment clean by their parents and must feel inspired by the beauty of the area around them.
One of the major issues we heard about was that 'locals' are being persuaded to clean the areas for the 'tourists', that's not a message we deliver, the place we call home needs care and attention, visitors or no visitors!

The Tour of Grade Five June 2007

Grade Five Sunrise School Bali spent their Social Studies time in their academic year creating and performing their version of the show: "Is It Really Rubbish?"
The show had been performed previously by members of the school at various venues but in 2006 Grade Five decided to make their own version and create a dvd from their work and performances.
They took the original play and added their own choreography and invented new songs and slogans to accompany the play. In the end they created a real "SHOW!"
